We traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to play in the Charm City East Coast Summer Slam Tournament this weekend.The girls played up in the 15/16 bracket and had another impressive showing, winning their pool, making it to the championship game and finishing 4-1 overall. They took second place in the tournament. This brings the team record to 26-4 in the last 7 tournaments.Please see detailed game information below:
Hoop Magic vs. Lady Wilcox (15): In the first game of the tournament, the team defeated Lady Wilcox decisively 54-23. Brianna Hogan was high scorer for the game with 13 points while Brittany Murray and guest player Ruth Sherill both added 11. Murray also pulled down 7 rebounds while Hogan and Long had 5 and 4 steals respectively.
Hoop Magic vs. Team Melo (15): In the second game of the tournament, Hoop Magic soundly defeated Team Melo 50-36. Guest Player Ruth Sherill was leading scorer with 17 points with Long adding 9 and Hogan and Murray both adding 8. With this victory, the team won their pool and moved on to the play-off round of the tournament.
Hoop Magic vs. The Wolfpack (16): The Hoop Magic girls defeated the Wolfpack 54-41. Guest player Sherill was the leading scorer with 16 while Murray added 14. Asia Wilson pulled down 7 rebounds and Catie Chaudhry pulled down 6. Murray had 8 blocks while Darrian Pickett had 5 steals and Long had 4 steals.
Hoop Magic vs. Maryland Sure Shots (15): In a closely fought game, the Hoop Magic girls pulled out a victory in the final minutes of the game, defeating the Maryland Sure Shots 48-45. Long was leading scorer with 14 points while Murray and Sherill added 11 and 10 respectively. Wilson contributed 9 rebounds and Murray 4 blocks to help close the point gap in the final minutes of the game.
Hoop Magic vs. Lady Pearls (16): In the championship game, the team played against the Lady Pearls, ultimately losing 40-35, bringing the tournament record to 4-1 and their overall record to 26-4 in the past 7 tournaments.
